On 20-21 October ISM University of Management and Economics will launch annual international scientific-practical conference in Kaunas. The topic this year was prompted by the representatives of business and science – Customer as Change Driving Force.

Yahoo! Research Director of Research Engineering Janet George, who is coming to Lithuania for the first time, will deliver her presentation during the conference. She will share her insights on how one can surprise the customers with new products and solutions and how scientific research could be applied. Organisational psychology Professor Philip Benson from the USA will speak about the importance of employee involvement.

The first day of the conference will be practitioner oriented, the second - researcher. President of ISM Dr. Nerijus Pačėsa says that the topic of the conference received huge interest from the researchers from different countries – 46 papers were presented to the ISM Selection Commission. Researchers from 10 countries, such as, the Baltic States, UK, USA, Russia and other expressed their interest to deliver presentations at the conference.

This year the ISM University, differently from the previous years, asked the business representatives to offer the topics for the parallel sessions. The most problematic and relevant topics for the business appeared to be innovations, business models, customer loyalty and creating added value as well as business development. The researchers will present their papers on these topics.

“Some of the papers for the conference were prepared by the researchers in direct communication with business when studying the specific problems. The results demonstrate that customer needs is the main driver for changes that encourages the companies to innovate and improve their work, whereas the scientific studies can very much contribute to this process by providing knowledge ant tools to business”, dr. N. Pačėsa says.

Traditionally ISM University organises international scientific conferences every autumn. The conference welcomes researchers, PHD students and business representatives from all over the world who come to share their newest research results, to listen to the presentations delivered by the management experts.
