How Innovations Contribute to Successful Restructuring of a Telco Company’s Business Juris Gulbis CEO Lattelecom (Latvia) In 2007 Lattelecom made a strategic decision – to create and develop innovative products and look for the new wider markets. One of such initiatives was a Lattelecom Interactive TV service, which since the date of launch has turned into a major success story. In 2013 Lattelecom launched a free WiFi service in Latvia, and YTD we have opened more than 3000 free Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country. The same year the first TIER3 certified Data Centre in Northern Europe was launched. These innovative services have helped Lattelecom to increase the value of the company, and to position Latvia as an advanced e-country. According to Akamai, Latvia has one of the fastest average Internet connection speeds in Europe and globally. The case study will focus on the internal procedures - how Lattelecom arrived at the idea to launch such services, how these ideas were implemented, and what structural changes were performed throughout the company during the so-called crisis period. The study will also provide an analysis of the external environment - what measures were taken to make these products attractive to customers. |

Survival of Creativity in a Growing Organization Kestutis Gardziulis, co-founder and CEO Etronika (Lithuania) A company is born when idea, commitment, passion and creativity meets an entrepreneur. The planted seed grows, more people join the company. World around brings more problems, more challenges and opportunities. Daily routine and bureaucracy frustrates passion and to some extent careless and happy atmosphere of creativity. The business environment changes. Yesterday’s hits are worthless today. And then you understand that routine does not allow to have a fresh look at your business. People no longer accept innovations, avoid challenges, they become incapable to adapt to changing business – creativity disappears. How to retain creativity in constantly growing organization? How to assure that entrepreneurship is not a business term anymore, but rather a way of life? The Co-founder and CEO of Etronika, Kestutis Gardziulis, is going to address this issue. |

Success of the Implementation of Mutual Trust & Respect Culture in Primekss Dr. Janis Oslejs CEO Primekss Group (Latvia) Five years ago it was realised at Primekss, a leading Scandinavia company specialising in concrete floors, that it was necessary to resolve the problem of crack formation when working with concrete. Continuous dialogue with its partners in collaboration enabled Primekss staff to realise that a common problem facing this branch of industry is the development of cracks in concrete. In order to solve that they established a large R&D centre called PrimekssLabs Concrete R&D centre, which is where a method was developed for producing concrete that has a significantly reduced tendency to produce cracks. This new product was given the name PrimeComposite and it has enabled the company to achieve some major successes. However, making major investments in R&D was not an easy decision. PrimeComposite has been received with great acclaim in Scandinavia, where a lot of value is attached to sustainable materials and low CO2 emissions. The concrete industry accounts for 7% of the global CO2 emissions, but PrimeComposite has enabled Primekss to reduce the company’s emissions and win awards such as the USA Innovation Compe-tition 2013 at the worlds biggest concrete industry trade fair, World of Concrete, held in Las Vegas. The open Scandinavian markets, and the willingness in this region to invest in quality together have established PrimeComposite as a leading product within the concrete industry. The CEO of Primekss Janis Oslejs is going to share his thoughts how did they success in this and how they are planning to bring about changes in the concrete industry internationally and to contribute to a marked reduction in CO2 emissions. |
